General Session. Next Generation Network Operations and Application Performance Management: NetQoS and Cisco Systems.
Matt Sherrod, Vice President of Product Management, NetQoS;
Barry Bruins, Senior Director of Engineering, Cisco Network Management Technology Group

Executives from NetQoS and Cisco will share product plans and provide details on joint projects designed to make network and application performance management simpler and more cost effective. You will learn how these collaborations leverage your existing Cisco infrastructure investments to instrument NetQoS products for comprehensive data capture and analysis with the minimum data collection footprint.

10:00-10:15

Break

10:15-11:15

Track 1: Foundations in Network Management: Using Flow & SNMP Data to Manage IT Infrastructure
This session will show how to utilize data collected from Netflow and SNMP for effective network management. Learn about NetQoS ReporterAnalyzer and NetVoyant, as well as their underlying architecture, data types, sources, retention, and interpretation for successful performance management.

Track 2: Troubleshooting with NetQoS SuperAgent.
Learn the most effective methods for sifting through the data in the SuperAgent’s Engineering views to quickly pinpoint the source of performance issues.

11:15-11:30 Break

11:30-12:30

Track 1: Foundations in Performance Management: Managing Business Critical Applications with SuperAgent
This session will introduce NetQoS SuperAgent, the application response time monitoring module of the NetQoS Performance Centre. Gain complete visibility into the network and learn how to measure the effect of WAN optimisation on application performance through Cisco WAAS.

Track 2: Cisco IP SLA Best Practices:  Monitoring and Configuration with NetVoyant.
Cisco IP SLA is a powerful latency monitoring technology that requires no additional devices in your infrastructure.  Learn how to take advantage of IP SLA to monitor point-to-point latency and congestion with deployment scenarios for each test.

12:30-13:30

Lunch

13:30-14:30 Track 1: See the Big Picture with NetQoS Performance Centre
This session will introduce NetQoS Performance Centre V4.0.The topics discussed will include centralized management of users, roles, permissions, and groups for SuperAgent, ReporterAnalyzer and NetVoyant along with NPC 4.0 Best Practices; NetQoS Performance Centre and underlying product architecture; and the addition of hundreds of new views into the view catalog.

Track 2: QoS Myths and Reality
This session will provide a strong foundation for understanding what QoS is, and what it is not. It will cover a range of topics, from the need for proper network architecture, baselining of key metrics, and
characterising data communications with network instrumentation, to viable policy configurations on interfaces. Emphasis will be placed on what works and what does not work when deploying QoS in support of a converged network system.

14:30-17:00

Hands-On Lab and Cocktails
Hold one-on-one product discussions with NetQoS performance experts in the Hands-on Lab or unwind and get acquainted with other attendees and NetQoS staff at our open bar.
